Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC)
AAC is used for individuals who cannot speak effectively, such as some people with Autism Spectrum Disorder. AAC helps people express their thoughts, needs, emotions, and ideas using alternative forms of communication, enabling greater independence and social interaction in daily life.
Speech-language pathologists assess communication abilities and recommend suitable AAC solutions to help individuals communicate more effectively at home, school, work, and in social settings. Therapy and training are provided to help users and caregivers understand how to use AAC systems confidently and successfully in everyday communication.
